The original workhorse fixed gear frameset. More at home on the street than the velodrome, the Steamroller takes you just about anywhere.
Built to excel on rough, pothole-riddled, crumbling city streets as well as urban trails and gravel paths, its beefy tire clearance makes it a great choice for minimalist commuters as well as dedicated winter commuters running full fenders who know the havoc road salt wreaks on lesser steel frames.
The geometry is closer to that of a road bike than a true track bike and double-butted 4130 cro-mo steel tubing make for a lively and resilient ride.
It's got one set of bottle mounts on seat tube, rack/fender eyelets on the rear dropouts and the entire frameset is E.D. coated inside and out - offering maximum protection from rust.
Official word from Surly is that this is the Steamroller's final run. Of course, a couple of goons on Reddit are quacking about how it's not true (and they obviously know way more that we do) but we heard it directly from the source and by now, it's old news.
