Phil Wood 8mm crank arm bolts
$ 40.00
Phil Wood crank bolts are machined from stainless steel and are 20mm long, which allows for more than 3/4" of engagement with the spindle.
The threads are first cold-forged, then the bolts are subjected to two heat-treat processes to maximize their strength. The head of the bolt accepts an 8mm hex head wrench.
• fits all square taper cranksets/BBs using 8mm (M8) bolts
• sold in pairs
Proper tightening is crucial to prevent the crank from loosening and damaging the crank arm.
The recommended torque spec for square taper crank bolts is generally 35-45 Nm (300–400 in-lbs) for most setups.
Tighten bolts in stages to 35-50 Nm, alternating sides, or until securely seated. Do not over-torque, as this can deform the crank/spindle interface.
Be sure to check the bolt tightness after the first few rides, as the arms will typically settle on the spindle and the bolts will require slight re-tightening.
